Privacy

SiteFree is run by Ops Machine, a Montreal consulting practice. This page explains what we keep about you and your site, why, how long, and how to see or delete it. It is written to meet Quebec's Law 25 and Canada's PIPEDA.

Who is responsible

The person in charge of protecting your personal information can be reached at hello@sitefree.ca.

What we keep, and for how long

• Your order: your email, your site's address, what you bought, the amount and the payment reference. We keep this for six years, because tax law requires it, then delete it.
• Your card: our payment processor handles it. We never see or store your card number.
• A copy of your site: we copy the public pages, images and text of your current site to rebuild it. If you are refunded, we delete it at once. After we hand your site over, we delete our copy within 30 days.
• Your preview: deleted at once if you are refunded, and as soon as your site is in your own accounts.
• Your GitHub username: kept with your order record, so we know whose account the site went to.
• The Cloudflare key you create for us: stored encrypted, used only to set up your site, and deleted as soon as that's done. If something stops us, it is deleted after 30 days anyway.
• Contact form settings: the email key and address for your site's form go straight to your own hosting. We don't keep a copy.
• Visits to this website: our analytics provider records pages visited and approximate location, with cookies, and keeps it for up to 14 months. Your private onboarding page never loads it. When you start a checkout we keep a scrambled form of your IP address, which can't be turned back into the address, with your order record, to stop abuse.

Why we use it

To move your site, send you updates about it, hand it over to you, and keep the records tax law requires. We don't sell your information or use it for advertising.

AI tools

We use AI tools to help rebuild and check your site. They read your site's public content, not your payment details, and our provider doesn't use our work to train its models. A person may review your new site before you see it.

Who else handles it

We rely on service providers in these categories: payment, website hosting, code hosting, email delivery, analytics and AI tools. Most of them store information outside Quebec, including in the United States, where local law applies. We assess each one before using it. Ask us at hello@sitefree.ca if you want the list.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete what we no longer need. Email hello@sitefree.ca. We reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you can contact the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.

Security incidents

If a breach of your information creates a risk of serious harm, we will tell you and the Commission d'accès à l'information.
